Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon
Spring Chance BQ.2 is an April marathon event in Geneva, Illinois, presented as part of the BQ.2 Marathon Races series. The races are organized by a leadership team that includes Boston finishers and supported by volunteers. The series is designed to help a limited field of 300 eligible runners pursue Boston qualifying times, and historically more than 50 percent of finishers have met Boston qualifying standards at these events.
The Spring Chance race is positioned for runners who train through the winter and aim to qualify earlier in the year. A companion event, Last Chance BQ.2, takes place in early September and is scheduled close to general Boston registration in some years. The race course uses a flat, fast, sheltered, scenic paved loop on the Fox River Trail at Fabyan Forest Preserve West in Geneva. The location offers relatively easy access from Chicago O’Hare, Chicago Midway, and Rockford airports. Race services described by the organizers include pre-race communication, packet pickup, a course preview jog, and on-course support for participants.
