Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon
Spring Chance BQ.2 is an April marathon held in Geneva, IL, that focuses on Boston Marathon qualification. The race limits the field to about 300 eligible runners from across North America, with participants coming from more than 30 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico and other countries.
The course is a paved loop on the Fox River Trail at Fabyan Forest Preserve West. Organizers describe the route as flat, fast, sheltered and scenic. The event provides pre-race communication, packet pickup, a course preview jog and on-course support. The race also allows registered personal pacers.
Organizers and volunteers include Boston Marathon finishers and a leadership team that coordinates logistics for the event. The Spring Chance race targets runners who have trained through the winter and want an early opportunity to achieve a qualifying time. Historically, over half of finishers meet Boston qualifying standards at these events, and the scheduling is intended to give runners a qualifying cushion for Boston registration.
Geneva is about 45 minutes west of Chicago and has road access from Chicago O’Hare, Midway and Rockford airports. The venue and services are presented to help runners pursue Boston Marathon qualification on a single, focused course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
