Spring Bloom Adventure Race
The Spring Bloom Adventure Race is an multi-sport orienteering event held in and around Fredericksburg, Virginia. Participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints across the landscape while traveling via multiple modes of transport. This event is sanctioned by the USARA and offers points for national rankings.
The event features several race formats based on distance and discipline:
- 15-Hour Race: Includes 17+ miles of trekking, 19+ miles of biking, and 18+ miles of paddling.
- 4-Hour Race: Includes 4+ miles of trekking, 11+ miles of biking, and 4+ miles of paddling.
- 4-Hour No-Bike: Includes 9+ miles of trekking and 4+ miles of paddling.
The 15-hour race is part of the Adventure Race World Series (ARWS) North America Series. In this format, teams or soloists navigate from morning until midnight. The 4-hour options serve as an introduction to the sport. Registration includes the use of a kayak or canoe, paddles, and lifejackets, as well as topographic maps and a post-race meal.
Participants must provide mandatory gear including a mountain bike, helmet, compass, and a first aid kit. The 15-hour race requires additional specialized equipment such as bike lights and water filtration.
