Event Overview
The 5th Annual Pints And Paws 5K and 1 Mile Run Walk and Pup Strut takes place in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event is held at the Meadow area across from the Jamestown Settlement parking lot. Participants have the option to enter various distances and formats:
- 5K Run Walk: A 3.1 mile event utilizing a USATF-certified course.
- 5K Competitive Walk: A 3.1 mile walk-only category where participants must walk the entire course.
- 1 Mile Fun Run Walk and Pup Strut: An untimed 1 mile course starting from the same line as the 5K.
- 5K Virtual Run/Walk: A remote participation option.
The 5K course follows the road running parallel to Jamestown Road, turns right onto Landfall, reaches a turnaround point, and returns to the clearing area.
Participant Information
Dogs are permitted to accompany registered participants in all event categories. Animals must be secured in a harness or collar and held on a leash or suitable lead; retractable leashes are not allowed on the course. Water stations for dogs are located at the start and finish lines. Due to expected temperatures, no canine-specific medals are awarded for the 5K.
Human participants in the 5K Run/Walk are eligible for awards across various age groups, ranging from 10 and under to 75 and over, with top three male and female finishers recognized in most categories. The 5K Competitive Walk recognizes the top five male and female finishers.
Amenities and Activities
Registration includes one beer (or a non-alcoholic beverage for underage participants) and one slice of pizza. Participants registered by the August 25 deadline are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Finishing medals are available for the first 175 participants to cross the finish line.
The event features a vendor fair with animal-friendly and community service booths. Additional activities include a Pup Photo Contest with categories such as Best Dressed Pet and Cutest Pet Smile. Participants are encouraged to bring new pet supplies as donations for a local rescue. Parking is available at the Jamestown Foundation Settlement lot.
