Event Overview
The Spreckles Lake 5K and SF Lightning Mile take place in San Francisco within Golden Gate Park. Organized by the DSE Runners, this event offers participants the opportunity to compete in two different distances on the same day. The event is held rain or shine at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Drive and 36th Avenue.

The SF Lightning Mile is designed as a fast, downhill course. Participants check in at the intersection of JFK Drive and 36th Avenue before making their way uphill to the starting point at Transverse Drive. The 1 mile race concludes back near the check-in area. Immediately following the completion of the mile, the 5 km race begins, featuring a scenic loop through the park that both starts and finishes at the JFK and 36th Avenue location.
All participants receive a commemorative ribbon for completing their race. Special place ribbons are awarded to the top five overall finishers in the male, female, and non-binary categories. Free parking is available for attendees along JFK Drive. The event allows for individual registration in either distance or both events consecutively.
