China Camp Trail Run
The event offers trail races at China Camp State Park in San Rafael, CA, on an extensive network of single-track trails and fire roads with views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay. Courses run through thicker forest sections and open coastal-side trails and include a notable climb beginning about 1.5 miles into the route.
Distances:
- Half marathon : 13.1 miles, 1,400 ft elevation gain.
- 10K : 6.4 miles, 750 ft elevation gain.
- 5K : 3.0 miles, 315 ft elevation gain.
The majority of the routes are on moderately technical dirt trails and fire roads. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon placed about every 200 meters; turns receive extra markings and critical sections have laminated signs and flour arrows when allowed. Blue ribbons indicate wrong way and mark trails not to follow.
Aid stations provide a range of foods and beverages including gels, chews, pretzels, PB&J, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration mixes. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event so runners must use their own water bottle or reusable cup; collapsible reusable cups will be available for purchase on site.
The event capacity is 250 entrants across all distances. All races are chip timed with disposable bib-attached chips. Dogs are allowed at the start/finish area only; they are not permitted on park trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
