AM Caravans Castle 5K Race 1
This event is the first race in the Castle 5K series, held at The Sheepmount, Carlisle, Great Britain, on 19 May 2027. The race uses an officially measured 5 km route that mixes park paths, pavements and quiet roads and is mainly flat. The course begins with a loop of Bitts Park, passes Carlisle Castle where runners complete two laps, and finishes near the small grandstand at Sheepmount Stadium. Caution is advised at all turns and runners should follow marshals and the race director's instructions due to the presence of cars and cyclists.
Entry options include single-race and five-race series entries for adults and U16 juniors, with affiliated and unaffiliated categories and different fee levels. If a competitor enters all five races in the series they may complete one race virtually to allow for holidays or clashes. Course records stand at 00:14:51 for male and 00:16:28 for female; a bonus of £40 will be awarded in 2027 to anyone who beats a current course record.
Prizes are awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers and to age groups according to competitor numbers; age group prizes are paid by BACS within seven days. Withdrawals before 19 April 2027 incur a 50% charge; after that date no refunds are given. Transfers to another runner or to 2028 are permitted up until 12 May 2027. Results are posted online, typically about ten minutes after the race start. A race risk assessment, permit and measurement certificate will be available at event HQ.
