Castle 5K Race 1
The event is a measured 5 km road and park race held at Sheepmount Stadium in Carlisle as the first race in a five-race series. The course uses a mixture of park paths, pavements and quiet roads that are mainly flat with generally good surfaces. The route begins with a loop of Bitts Park, proceeds past Carlisle Castle where runners complete two laps around the castle, and returns to finish near the small grandstand at Sheepmount Stadium.
Race numbers are issued at on-site registration. A full course risk assessment, route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate will be available at the event headquarters on race day. Competitors should take care at turns, follow marshal and race director instructions, and be aware of traffic and cyclists on shared sections.
Prizes are awarded for overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers, with age group prizes paid by BACS within seven days. Age group prize allocation depends on the number of competitors in each category and age group prizes roll down if an athlete also places in the overall prizes. Results are published online shortly after the race.
The series permits one virtual race for participants who intend to complete all five races. The event has a withdrawal policy that applies a 50 percent charge for refunds processed up to one month before the event; no refunds are given after that date.
