Event Overview
The Spook Hill Cider & Wine event takes place in Burkittsville, Maryland, centered at the Burkittsville Ruritan Community Center. The event features multiple distance options that showcase the local landscape through historic areas and private agricultural lands. Participants can choose between the following distances:
- 4 Miles (Running)
- 3 Miles (Walking)
Course Details
The course terrain is varied, incorporating different surfaces such as pavement, gravel, and grass. Participants encounter cross-country conditions that can occasionally be uneven. The route passes through several notable locations, including historic Burkittsville, Boordy's South Mountain Vineyard, the historic Burkittsville Union Cemetery, and South Mountain Creamery farmland. Parts of the course navigate through private orchards and vineyards that are exclusively accessible to registered participants on the day of the event.
Participation Guidelines
Specific restrictions are in place for the safety and logistics of the event. Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course for either the run or the walk. Participants in the 3 Mile Walk distance receive a finisher's wine glass and are eligible for door prizes, though they are not eligible for performance-based awards. Packet pickup is available on the Wednesday prior to the event at a designated location in Frederick, as well as on the morning of the event at the community center.
