Kilometers & Kegs for Cool's Legacy
Kilometers & Kegs for Cool's Legacy is a fundraising running event at the Thurmont Carnival Grounds in Thurmont, Maryland on September 19, 2026. Net proceeds will be donated to organizations that support suicide awareness, prevention, research, and survivor support, including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, JB27, and Operation Second Chance.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K
- Fun Run/Walk for kids and families
The 5K is a timed course that starts and ends at the event complex and includes a paved section on the Thurmont Trolley Trail, which follows former trolley tracks. The event is not USATF-certified. Strollers are welcome in the Fun Run; strollers are permitted generally, while dogs, bicycles, and skates are not allowed on the course.
Packet pick-up is available the day before and on event day. Registration opens June 21, 2026 and closes September 19, 2026; listed registration fees are $50 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Run.
A post-race celebration at the venue will include food and beer provided by local vendors, complimentary items for participants with age restrictions, family activities such as a bounce house and hayrides, and fundraising activities including raffles and a 50/50.
