About the race

The SpiritWalk & Warrior Run is an annual community event presented by the Seattle Indian Health Board in partnership with Brooks Running. The 30th edition takes place at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Discovery Park, Seattle, and focuses on supporting Native people living on Native land in the Seattle area. Proceeds will fund projects that increase access to culturally attuned care.

Participants may choose between a trail run and a shorter community walk:

  • 5K Warrior Run (timed, t-shirt included) - $40
  • 1.25 mile SpiritWalk (free)

The 5K is a trail run and is described as the first Native-led run allowed in Discovery Park; it will be professionally chip-timed. An opening ceremony includes a blessing and a Native drum group. Awards include custom-designed beaded medallions for top race finishers and one walker; award categories are Youth, Men, Women, Non-binary, and Golden Age (Elders).

Event parking is provided at the Daybreak Star lot (ADA accessible; Elders parking only), a nearby north parking lot with ADA spaces, and along the shoulder of Bernie Whitebear Way. Seattle Indian Health Board facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities, and accommodations can be arranged with one week advance notice. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
