Burien Brat Trot
Burien Brat Trot is a community fun run that has taken place for over sixteen years to raise funds for the Highline Schools Foundation. The event supports basic needs, equitable and innovative learning opportunities, and college and career readiness for students at all grade levels and in every Highline Public School.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, in downtown Burien. The route runs along 152nd through downtown Burien and on surrounding neighborhood streets. Prizes are awarded to the school with the most participants, the adult team with the most participants, top men's and women's finishers in the 5k, and winners in the girls and boys 1k.
Registration opens in late summer for teams and individuals. Teams receive a 10% registration discount and can request a team promo code before registering. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $500 and include a range of marketing benefits.
Volunteers are requested for duties before and during the event, including handing out registration packets, raffle ticket sales, medal distribution, set up and take down. Route monitors are stationed along the course to help maintain safety and ensure runners and neighbors remain on closed streets. 5k route monitors must be at least 18 years of age.
