San Jose Trail Challenge - Spartan Trail
Sanborn County Park in Saratoga, California hosts a multi-distance trail running event on September 27, 2026. The course runs on soft singletrack through shaded redwood groves on the eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Trails in the park are described as well groomed but steep and technically demanding, with sustained climbs and descents and generally good footing on flowy singletrack through dense forest. There is no onsite parking for racers; participants are required to use offsite parking and shuttle service to the venue. Race operations include chip timing and visible bib requirements. For the 50K distance a 500 ml water carrying vessel is mandatory. Participants must carry out their trash and dispose of it at aid stations; littering can result in disqualification. Recommended items noted by the organizer include hydration options, warm breathable layers for cooler conditions, rugged trail shoes, and optional trekking poles.
