Spaceman 5K
The Spaceman 5K is a running and walking event held in historic Cocoa Village, Florida. The date of the race is chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Mercury-Redstone launch which occurred on March 24, 1961. This event takes place alongside the Space Coast Triathlon, though it is a distinct race restricted to a field of 200 entrants.
Participants follow an out-and-back course that runs entirely along the Indian River Lagoon. The route provides views of the water as athletes move through the historic district. Due to the nature of the course and its connection to the triathlon, there is a strict 50 minute time limit enforced for all participants.
Available distance:
- 3.1 miles (5K)
Each entrant receives a race bib and a finisher's medal featuring the event logo. Following the conclusion of the distance, post-race amenities are provided for the participants. The event location is situated at Harrison Street in Cocoa, allowing participants to stay in the area after their finish to observe triathletes as they complete their respective courses at the same venue.
