Southern Utah Half Marathon
The Southern Utah Half Marathon is a road running event held in Washington, Utah. The course begins at Highland Park and offers views of the sun rising over Zion National Park in the distance. The route features a significant net downhill profile, starting with a rapid descent through the City of Washington for the first 4 miles.
The remainder of the course follows the Virgin River Trail. This scenic, paved path maintains a gradual decline for the final 9 miles of the race. Participants can choose between two event categories:
- Half Marathon
- Wheelchair Half Marathon
Aid stations are positioned at multiple intervals along the route, specifically at the starting line and at mile markers 2.25, 4, 6, 8.5, 10.5, 11.75, and 13.1. These stations provide water and hydration supplements. Restroom facilities are available at every aid station, while the stations at miles 6 and 10.5 also provide fruit such as oranges and bananas.
Participants receive a t-shirt and those who complete the course within a four-hour limit receive a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each age division, and the top five overall men and women receive gift cards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
