Southend Half Marathon
The Southend Half Marathon is a charity road race organised by Havens Hospices on 14 June 2026 at East Beach, Shoeburyness, SS3 9AD. Now in its 30th year, the event has raised over £1.6 million for the Essex based charity and has sold out two years running. The race regularly attracts over 2,500 runners and many spectators along the seafront.
The course is a two-lap route along the coast with views over the Thames Estuary. The flat route is closed to traffic. Wheelchair athletes are welcome. The event notes it can suit runners aiming for a personal best as well as those running their first half marathon.
Race day facilities and services include changing facilities, a bespoke medal, free parking at East Beach Car Park, a runners village with food and drink stalls, a main stage with live performances, a meet and greet area, pacers, and qualified sports therapists offering pre and post race treatments for a fee. Havens Hospices offers a Havens Hero entry that includes a £16 donation to the charity which the organiser states could cover half an hour of essential care. The event also partners with the Carli Lansley Foundation to provide free heart screening for younger runners. Registered entrants receive event information before race day.
