Southend Half Marathon
The Southend Half Marathon takes place in June at East Beach in Shoeburyness. It is a half marathon distance race. The event is hosted by Havens Hospices as its flagship fundraiser.
The 2026 edition marks the event's 30th year. It has raised over £1.6 million for the charity, which provides free care in Essex. The race has sold out in previous years and typically attracts over 2500 participants, including runners from across the UK and internationally.
The course is a two-lap route along the coast with views over the Thames Estuary. It is flat, closed to traffic, and open to wheelchair athletes. The start and finish area is at East Beach.
Entry includes a bespoke medal, changing facilities, and free parking at East Beach Car Park. A special "Havens Hero" entry option includes a £16 donation to the charity. The event also offers pre and post-race sports therapy, a main stage with live music, a runners' village with food stalls, and pacers.
