Event overview
The Southend Half Marathon takes place on 14 June 2026 at East Beach, Shoeburyness (SS3 9AD). The event is in its 30th year and has raised over £1.6 million for Havens Hospices. The race regularly attracts over 2,500 runners and includes spectators along the seafront start and finish area.
Course and facilities
The event is a Half Marathon run over a two-lap course along the coast with views across the Thames Estuary. The route is flat and closed to traffic. Wheelchair athletes are welcome. Detailed route maps and GPX files are available. Facilities include changing areas, a bespoke medal for finishers, and free parking at East Beach Car Park. Qualified sports therapists offer massages and treatments before and after the race for a fee of £15. The event village features a main stage, food and drink stalls, a meet and greet area, and pacers.
Fundraising and entries
The race is a major fundraiser for Havens Hospices. A Havens Hero entry includes a £16 donation to the charity. Free heart screening for younger runners will be offered in partnership with the Carli Lansley Foundation. Listed entry prices range from £38 to £54. The event is open to entrants aged 17 and over.
