Southampton Fast Twitch Triathlon
Southampton Fast Twitch is a pool-based sprint triathlon held at Applemore Leisure Centre in Dibden, Southampton, on the edge of the New Forest National Park. The event comprises a swim, a bike leg through the New Forest, and a run that finishes near the village of Dibden Purlieu.
Distances:
- 400 m swim (16 lengths of an inside pool)
- 21 km bike through the New Forest towards Beaulieu
- 5 km run finishing by Roman Road in Dibden Purlieu
The bike course passes through varied National Park scenery, including open heathland and woodlands, and participants may encounter roaming livestock such as New Forest ponies, cows, donkeys and pigs. The run route approaches the village along Challenger Way and concludes on Roman Road.
Organizers publish a code of conduct for athletes and provide volunteer marshalling for tasks such as car parking, registration, course marshalling and water stations. Volunteers receive a high visibility vest and are offered a free entry code as a thank you. The event is presented as an early-season triathlon suitable for newcomers and experienced triathletes.
