About the race
MTC Afanc is a 39.8-mile ultramarathon in mid-Wales, running from The River Wye Activity Centre in Glasbury, Powys to Travelodge Merthyr Tydfil. It’s Day 1 of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge and Day 5 of Wales’ CYMRUN, with competitors sharing a single-day route along National Cycle Route 8, described as scenic and spectacular. The course stays on NCN Route 8 from start to finish, with mid-course checkpoints at Llanfilo and Lock House before Merthyr Tydfil.
Special features include a cup-free race, a limited field (up to 40), real-time tracking, optional race shirt and hi‑viz jacket, and a bespoke finishers medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
