The Beast of the Beacons takes place on Saturday 18 April 2026 at Llangynidr Village Hall, Cwmcrawnon Road, Crickhowell, NP8 1LS. The event is organised by Limitless Trails. Entry fees listed are: 10 miles £48, 20 miles £60, 40 miles £80.

- 20 Miles (approx 32.5 km)
- 40 Miles (approx 65 km)
The course is marked and the 40 mile route is a reverse lap of the 20 mile route. Cut-off times include an 8 hour limit for the 20 mile distance and a 16 hour limit for the 40 mile distance. The event is canicross friendly; dogs must be at least 12 months old, kept on a lead, and owners remain responsible for their animals. Canicross participants are not eligible for the standard trophies.
Course, support and kit
The route runs through the Brecon Beacons National Park and includes forests, ridges, reservoirs, rivers, rocky paths and muddy sections. Checkpoints are described as well stocked with snacks, drinks and options for dietary requirements. GPX files are provided for the 10 and 20 mile routes; the 40 mile GPX is a reverse of the 20 mile file. Warm food is provided at the finish for the ultra distance only.
Facilities listed include camping nearby, toilets, refreshments, mobile coffee and pizza vans, physio, a full medical team, stalls and a kiddies corner. Parking is managed by ticket with a charge and a ballot system for tickets. Mandatory kit requirements include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, base layer, capacity to carry 1 litre of fluid, emergency food, map or GPX file, charged phone, hat and gloves, trail footwear, first aid kit, foil blanket, head torch, whistle and a reusable cup.
