All courses are a mix of single track trails and dirt roads and include hills, oak-tree sections, and exposed trail segments. Reported total ascent varies by distance, reaching up to 5,164 ft for the 50K and 4,757 ft for the trail marathon. Specific ascent values are provided for shorter distances as well.
Aid and water are available at multiple named aid stations including Rancho Canada del Oro, Cottle Trail at Lisa Killough, Rancho San Vicente, and the Calero Start/Finish aid station. Drop bags may be checked at bib pick-up and can be accessed at the Calero, Rancho Canada del Oro, and Rancho San Vicente stations; returned items are taken to the Calero Start/Finish after station closures. Several trail sections have no ribbon guidance for particular distances; ribbon schemes vary by distance and segment.
Time limits are set by distance: the half marathon has a 4.5 hour limit, the 16 mile has a 6 hour limit, and the trail marathon and 50K have 9.5 hour limits. Volunteers are needed to support aid stations; volunteers receive a future race credit. Entry fees are non-refundable though transfers or credits are available if advised before race day.
