Event

Stanbury Splash is a fell race organised by Wharfedale Harriers at Penistone Hill Country Park, near Haworth, Keighley, West Yorkshire, England. The senior course is listed as 12 km (category BM) with roughly 400 m of climb (around 1200 ft). The race is part of the Woodentops Race Series and uses chip timing. Pre-entry is £9; entry on the day is £10. Teams of three are allowed. The event holds a race permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.

Course, facilities and rules

The route circuits Ponden Clough and Stanbury Moor, starting and finishing at the cricket hut on Penistone Hill, and includes several stream (beck) crossings and muddy, uneven sections. There is a cut-off of 45 minutes at the start of the Ponden Kirk loop; runners arriving after this will be asked to omit the loop and follow the return path. The senior race is for over-18s; junior races are organised separately. Facilities at race HQ include toilets; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing rooms, showers or baggage storage. All runners should carry the full kit required by FRA safety rules (waterproof top, waterproof leggings, hat and gloves) and be prepared to wear or carry it. All entrants receive a small Soreen malt loaf bar and there are full-size Soreen loaves among the prizes. Prize categories include overall places and age-group vet and U21 awards; prizes must be collected in person and the prize list may be scaled if senior entries are low.
