Event

Stanbury Splash takes place on 18 January 2026 at Penistone Hill Country Park near Haworth, Keighley. It is a fell race listed as category BM and forms part of the Woodentops Race Series. The course distance is 12 km (6.7 miles) with approximately 400 m (1200 ft) of ascent. Minimum age is 18 years and the event has an entry limit of 300. Pre-entry fee is £9; entry on the day is available for £10. Chip timing is used for the series.

Course, facilities and rules

The race starts and finishes at the Old Cricket Hut in Penistone Hill Country Park and is a single lap circuit of Ponden Clough and Stanbury Moor. The route includes multiple stream and beck crossings, muddy climbs and sections on open moor and footpath. There is a cut-off at the descent to Ponden Beck; runners asked to miss the Ponden Kirk loop if they arrive after the cut-off. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Facilities are limited: toilets are provided but there are no water stations, distance markers, changing rooms, showers or baggage storage. All entrants receive a small Soreen malt loaf bar and full-size Soreen loaves are among the prizes. Teams of three are allowed. In line with FRA safety requirements, runners should bring full kit such as a waterproof top, waterproof leggings, hat and gloves; requirements may be set on the day.
