Somba K'e Backyard Ultra 2026 : Yellowknife
The event takes place at the Yellowknife Ski Club Chalet, Yellowknife Access Road, Yellowknife, NT, Canada, on September 19, 2026. The course is a 6.7 km loop that begins at the start of every hour. Runners must complete the entire loop before the next hour begins. A cowbell signals the start of each fresh hour and lap. All runners must be in the starting corral when the next lap begins.
The race continues until only one person remains who has completed the last lap, or until 24hr have expired. Mandatory equipment includes headlamps and adequate clothing.
Key rules: no outside assistance is allowed except from any crew at the starting area, and only after a runner has completed their last loop and before the next loop. No spectators or other people are allowed on the course except in the starting area.
Event options include Solo 24hr Backyard Ultra, Team Relay Backyard Ultra (maximum 4 people per team; only one teammate may be on the course at a time), Youth Solo Backyard Ultra, and Youth Team Backyard Event. Registration includes onsite snacks, food and beverages, access to ski club facilities and the chalet (bathrooms and space to set up a camping mat or lay out race supplies), a DNF medal/token for every participant, and a race t‑shirt.
