2026 Midnight Sun Triathlon
The 2026 Midnight Sun Triathlon takes place on July 5, 2026 in Yellowknife. The event offers adult categories in Try a Tri and Sprint formats and a kids category for families. The swim is held in the Yellowknife Aquatic Centre. The pool has eight lanes reserved for the event, and laps are swum in a serpentine pattern with swimmers passing under the buoy line between lanes.
Bike and run courses use the Frame Lake Trail and nearby city roads. Bike starts are on the Frame Lake Trail outside the Aquatic Centre, proceed past City Hall and the Legislative Building, and use the highway and local landmarks as turn points. Try a Tri has a turnaround near Giant Mine; Sprint continues onto Ingraham Trail to a further turnaround. The kids bike route turns at the playground near City Hall. The run sections follow Frame Lake Trail toward City Hall and out to the Niven Lake entrance; runners should run against traffic on the shoulder to remain visible.
Registration is offered in three periods: Early Bird May 8 to June 12, Regular June 12 to June 29, and Late June 30 to July 3. Fees differ by period and by category. Entries can be solo or team. Kids swim 50 m with a kickboard option, bike 2 km and run 500 m; kids times are not recorded and parents may accompany them. Courses may change due to construction.
