Somba K'e SwimRun : event description
Somba K'e SwimRun is a point to point adventure organized by the Yellowknife Multisport Club. The format alternates multiple swims and runs with many transitions between water and land. The actual swim course may change depending on weather and water conditions.
Three distances are proposed with total swim and run amounts:
- Carmen: total swimming 1.2 km, total running 1.9 km
- Experience: total swimming 2.3 km, total running 8.5 km
- Adventure: total swimming 2.82 km, total running 10.5 km
Participants compete in pairs and should stay together during the event; leashes are not required for this edition. A swim buoy and swim cap are mandatory for visibility and safety. Competitors must keep all their gear from start to finish; running shoes suitable for rocky, wet terrain and equipment secured for runs are recommended. Wetsuits are allowed but not mandatory.
The event is untimed. Aid stations provide some snacks and refreshments. The finish is at the Fred Henne day use area and participants must arrange their own return transportation from the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
