Race Overview
The Sock Out Cancer 5K and Fun Run is a fundraising event held in Stonewall, Louisiana. The event supports local pediatric patients receiving care through the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic in Shreveport. This clinic provides medical treatment for children and adolescents fighting cancer and blood disorders through a partnership between St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Ochsner LSU Health-Feist Weiler Cancer Center.
Proceeds from the event provide non-medical support for families, including birthday celebrations, "No Mo Chemo" parties, meals, snacks, comfort items, gas cards, and hotel expenses. The first $8,000 raised is designated for these local clinic needs, with additional funds benefiting the St. Jude Miracles on the Red fundraising event.
Available event options include:
- 5K
- Kids Run 12 & Under
- Sleep-In Supporter (an option to receive a shirt without participating in the run)
The course begins inside the gates of Lumiere Christmas Park. The route includes laps around the parking lot, trails through the woods, and a segment on the entrance road and local side roads leading toward Pine Street. Participants follow the same path back to the finish line inside the park.
Medals are awarded to the overall male and female winners of the 5K, as well as the top finishers in age categories ranging from 10 and under to 60 and over. Packet pickup is available at Run Wild on Ellerbe Road in the days prior to the event, as well as on-site on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
