SoBo Series: Volumes 1 - 4
The SoBo Series takes place on the beachfront promenade at Southbourne Beach, Bournemouth, Dorset. The course runs along the prom with coastal views and is tarmacked and flat, with no elevation gain or loss.
The event uses out and back laps of 5.3 km (3.28 miles). Participants may choose their own distance along the route, from short road distances up to ultra-marathon distances. All finishers of a lap or more receive a medal. The route is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers and counts as a road marathon for 100 Marathon Club purposes. Distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under under UK Athletics rules.
Race day facilities include an aid and drinks table at the start and finish of each lap offering a selection of savoury and sweet items, and an area to leave personal items. Organisers do not provide plastic cups. Public toilets and showers are available along the promenade. Number pick-up takes place on the day at race registration.
The series comprises four volumes: Volume 1 Step into Christmas, Volume 2 My Funny Valentine, Volume 3 Good Vibrations and Volume 4 Stop Me if you think you've heard this one before. Participants and their families or supporters can receive 10% off food and soft drinks at SoBo Beach on event day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
