Snowbird Challenge - Riverwest Preserve
The Snowbird Challenge is a lap-based running event held on January 23, 2027 at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, SC. The course uses a paved 2.62-mile loop that runs through the former golf course and passes rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront sections within the 240-acre preserve. Registration includes entry to the park and event items such as a finisher medal, custom bib, temporary race tattoo, event giveaways, a race sticker, and complimentary race photos. Music and a post-race hangout are provided.
Race formats use repeated laps to reach set distances or relay totals. Available event options include:
- 50K
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- 5 miles
- Reindeer Relay (12 x 2.62) for teams of 2 to 4
Lap rules and timing are enforced: each loop must be completed within 45 minutes, and new laps begin on a timed schedule marked by a bell. Finish times on a lap determine the allowed rest interval before the next lap. An aid station at the start/finish provides snacks and drinks, and no cups are provided. The athlete village sits between the start and finish areas and allows participant setup (10x10 canopies, coolers, chairs); parking is located about 150 meters from the event area. Awards include trophies for top overall finishers, age-group medals, and series points toward the Upstate Road Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
