Snowbird Challenge 50k
The Snowbird Challenge is a looped running event held at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, SC (2959 New Easley Hwy). The course uses a paved loop of about 2.62 miles on paths that were once a golf course, with rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront views. Entry into the park is included with registration; a $5 special use permit fee is collected during registration to gain access to the facilities on race day.
Race format is lap based. Each loop must be completed within a 45 minute window; a bell signals the start of each lap and runners must wait until the interval for the next lap begins. Finish times within the lap determine the available rest before the next start. Aid is concentrated at the start/finish area and includes snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips and Little Debbie items, plus water, Tailwind, Coke and ginger ale; no cups are provided. Three portable toilets are available at the start/finish.
Event options include solo and relay entries. Relay teams follow rules that only one runner per team may be on course at a time and team sizes of 2 to 4 determine maximum laps per runner. Included with registration are park access, a race bib and timing tag, finisher medal, temporary race tattoo, giveaways, race photos, and onsite Athlete Village with designated tent setup and parking located about 150 meters away.
