About the race
The Snowbird Challenge is a looped running event at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina, held in January as part of the Upstate Race Series and the Upstate Giving Series. The course is a paved 2.62 mile loop through a 240 acre nature preserve that was formerly a golf course, featuring rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront views. Runners complete the loop repeatedly to reach a chosen distance. Laps begin at 45 minute intervals and each lap must be completed within 45 minutes.
The course returns to the start/finish each lap, passing the aid station and drop bag area on every circuit. There is one aid station at the start/finish and three portable toilets nearby. Parking is provided on the open driving range grass field and facility entry is included with race entry. Event services include chip timing with live results, a custom race bib, a finisher medal for all finishers, professional race photos after the event, a custom race tattoo, event giveaways, and a sponsored Tent City area for gear between laps.
Relay teams split twelve laps; team size rules limit how many laps an individual may run. The event supports local nonprofits through the Giving Series. Dogs and headphones are allowed, and spectators are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
