About the race
The SMWL Monster Mash is a chip timed 5k held on October 3, 2026 at the Indian Head Rail Trail in White Plains, Maryland. The course is flat and paved and runs out and back along creeks and through woods. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person.
Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Fall Series. Runners receive a finisher's medal and a technical Drifit event shirt. T shirts are guaranteed for registrants before September 23; extras may be available after that date on a first come first served basis.
Registration fees listed for the 5k are $50 for adults, $25 for youth ages 7 to 17, and free for youth under 7. Price will increase on race morning by $5 for each distance and race day registration is offered with limited shirt sizes. One water station is placed at approximately mile 1.55 and Gatorade may be available at some stations. Port a johns are located near the check in and registration area.
The race benefits the Southern Maryland Women’s League. Over the past 18 years the organization has donated more than $480,000 for programs, grants, scholarships, and community resources.
