RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K : Alexandria charity run
RUN! GEEK! RUN! is an annual community 5K held in Alexandria, VA that donates its proceeds to a different Alexandria based non profit each year. The 2026 beneficiary is the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria provides resources and awards more than 200 scholarships annually to academically qualified students with financial need from Alexandria City Public Schools. The fund supports students through college by renewing scholarships for up to four years and assisting with financial aid navigation at Alexandria City High School.
The course begins between George Washington Middle School and the Braddock Road metro stop and runs through suburban streets in Alexandria. Organizers and participant accounts describe the route as flat, scenic, and laid out on wide streets with spectator support. The event features a mascot, Eugene, who serves as ambassador and is associated with Team Eugene; top team finishers may influence a community team award. Sponsors support the event at multiple levels, with named sponsorship tiers such as Kilobyte, Megabyte, Gigabyte, Terabyte, Race Bag, and Bobblehead. Volunteers help with water stations, course marshaling, and finish area support. Funds from the race have been raised for beneficiaries since 2016.
