Smoky Mountain Very Scary 5K
The event is a fully supported nighttime running event that starts and finishes at The Abbey in Townsend, Tennessee. It offers a chip-timed 5K and an untimed 1 mile fun run. The course includes planned scary sightings and themed elements along the route.

- 5K lollipop loop from The Abbey, with an aid station encountered twice
- 1 Mile out-and-back fun run from The Abbey
The 5K is chip timed, with awards for male and female finishers in the following categories: Open, Masters (age 40+), Grandmasters (age 50+), and Veterans (age 60+). Per USATF regulations, awards are based on gun time. Awards and event swag must be picked up on race day only; items will not be shipped or held for late pickup.
Registration opens 2026-01-14 and closes 2026-07-17. The listed registration fee is $45.00. Shirts are printed one week before race day and sizes are not guaranteed after that deadline; shirts will not be held or mailed.
A costume contest is held before the race with awards for top costumes. For safety and insurance reasons, pets, strollers, wagons, roller skates, skateboards, scooters, mopeds, and hoverboards are not allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
