Smoky Mountain 24 Hour Challenge
The Smoky Mountain 24 Hour Challenge is a loop-based trail running event held in Sevierville, Tennessee, on October 17, 2026. The course is a 3 mile loop at 1005 Park Road on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. The event is limited to 300 runners.
The race offers two entry options with separate entry fees. The main event gives runners 24 hours to cover as many miles as they can on the 3 mile loop. An alternate option provides an eight hour, daytime-only challenge.
- 24 Hour Challenge: 24 hours to run as many miles as possible
- 9 to 5 Challenge: eight hours to accumulate distance on the same loop
Aid and support are centered at the loop midpoint so runners pass the aid station every three miles. Organizers provide snacks, hydration, volunteers, and course-side encouragement. Runners can expect frequent visibility of other participants and easy access to crew and gear because of the loop format.
Practical details include a finisher medal and a custom race T-shirt among event swag. Runners who reach 80 miles will receive a themed belt buckle. Registration fees are listed for each challenge and registration opens in March 2026. The event is presented by two trail running communities working together.
