Event Overview
The Sleeping Bear Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Empire, Michigan, within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The event is scheduled during the peak of the autumn season, featuring a course lined with changing tree colors. All race distances conclude at Empire Beach.

Course Details
The Full Marathon starts at the Dune Climb. The route leads participants past Little Glen Lake and through the village of Glen Arbor. Runners can see the Manitou Islands and the Sleeping Bear Dunes from the path.
The Half Marathon also begins at the Dune Climb. The course follows the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and includes sections with hilly terrain. The 5K distance is designed as an out-and-back route starting and ending at the lakefront in Empire. The race environment is characterized by its views of the National Lakeshore and local landmarks.
