Betsie Bay Frozen 5K
The Betsie Bay Frozen 5K is a winter running event held in Frankfort, Michigan on February 13, 2027. The course distance is 3.1 Miles and proceeds benefit the Benzie County Youth Initiative.
Packet pick up is available at the American Legion (206 Main St, Frankfort) on the Friday before the race and again on race morning. Bag drop is offered inside the American Legion on race morning. Busing to the start is provided from the American Legion by Benzie Bus and Frankfort Public Schools. Parking is available along Main Street and Second Street and near the start in the Furnace Street Distillery parking lot; organizers request avoiding parking at the Elberta lookout to allow room for buses and race staging.
Organizers note that the City of Frankfort plans to sand portions of the course but that winter conditions can change quickly, so participants should be prepared for variable footing and weather. Post race awards will be available at the American Legion without a formal awards ceremony. Awards include top place overall and top three in each age category, with categories from 14 and under through 80 and up.
All participants receive a lightweight hoodie, a commemorative bib, a finishers medal and a coupon for $2 off a StormCloud draft. Donated gifts from community partners will be given away to registered participants on race day. Registration opens October 3, 2026, and closes January 13, 2027; the registration fee is $34.00.
