Trail Running Along the Huddersfield Narrow Gauge Canal
Sithee at Slawit Again takes place in the village of Slaithwaite, known locally as Slawit. The course follows the Huddersfield narrow gauge canal, a route characterized by its many locks and undulating terrain. Participants run out toward Tunnel End, the site of a 3.5 mile tunnel passing under the Pennines. This event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and offers a variety of distances to suit different preferences.
Available distances include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
The event is designed to be self-sufficient with a focus on sustainability, as the organizers operate a cup-less policy. Feed stations are positioned approximately every three miles, offering water and various food items, though runners must bring their own reusable cups or bottles. A generous cut-off time of 6.5 hours is provided for participants.
Registration, bag drop, and toilet facilities are located at the Slaithwaite Community Centre. The race start and finish line is situated on the canal side near the village center. While there is limited parking directly at the start, additional parking is available in local town car parks and side roads. Slaithwaite is also accessible via its local train station. Upon finishing, participants receive a bespoke medal along with drinks and snacks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
