Skyline 50K Endurance Run
Skyline 50K Endurance Run is an annual trail event held in August at Lake Chabot Marina in Castro Valley, California. The main course is a large loop through the East Bay Regional Parks that reaches Moon Gate. A half marathon is offered in a looped format that also starts and finishes at Lake Chabot Marina.
The race is one of the oldest continuously running 50k events in the United States and regularly attracts first time ultrarunners and experienced runners. Aid stations are staffed by local Bay Area running groups, and a Volunteer Safety Patrol provides direction at key intersections. Radio communications on course are operated by volunteer ham radio operators.
Race week includes a digital briefing and optional bib pickup at a Sports Basement location in Berkeley. Training runs are free and self supported; organizers share updates via a Scena Strava club. Course maps, aid station details, cutoffs, and course profiles are provided in athlete guides and GPX files.
All finishers receive a race shirt, special Skyline socks, and a finishers medal. Awards are given to overall winners and three deep by age group. The event is part of the P USATF Grand Prix and is a UTMB Index event. The event follows a generally no refund policy; deferrals are allowed outside 30 days but not within 30 days of race day.
