Skunk Ape Night Run

Skunk Ape Night Run is a trail race held July 18, 2026 at the Green Swamp - West Tract near Dade City, Florida. The event distance is 30K and the course passes through pasture lanes, dirt roads, single track on the Florida Trail, sugar sand, fire berms and grassy horse trails.

Aid stations are placed every 3 to 5 miles and are stocked with soda, pickles, gummy candies, chips, snacks, cookies, produce and powdered electrolyte mixes. Bandages and women hygiene products are available at each aid station in a plastic box.

The route is marked with reflective tape, pink flagging and turn signs with self correcting information. The course description notes stretches on Cumpressco Road, Rangers Landing Road, the Florida Trail including a section called The Ridge, the Berm Loop, Cedar Pocket Road and a creek crossing before returning through open fields to the finish.

There is one drop bag zone at the Berm Aid Station; drop bags must have the runner name visible and should be no larger than a standard drawstring bag. Drop bags are returned to the start area after the Berm aid station packs up.

Awards include the top four men and top four women overall. There are no age group awards and no event t shirt provided, but finishers may choose from various glass or mug items and stickers. A post race potluck is part of the event for a fee of $15. Camping in the Green Swamp is free with a reservation and picnic tables and fire rings are available at the Ashley and Cumpressco campgrounds.

The event follows standards of the American Trail Running Association and aligns with the International Trail Running Association and International Association of Ultrarunners.
