Event Overview
The Skunk Ape Night Run is a 30 km trail race. It takes place in the Green Swamp - West Tract near Dade City, Florida.
The Course
The course uses a variety of terrains found in Florida, including pasture lanes, dirt roads, single-track trails on the Florida Trail, and grassy sections. The route passes landmarks such as the Big Foot BSA campsite, an area known as "The Ridge," and a section called "The Berm" loop on an old forest road. Runners will cross a creek. The course is marked with pink flagging and reflective tape.
Aid & Support
Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 5 miles. They are stocked with items like soda, pickles, snacks, cookies, and electrolyte powder. Basic first-aid supplies are available. There is no time cut-off for the race.
Awards & Amenities
The top four overall male and female finishers receive awards. All finishers receive an item such as a pint glass, whiskey glass, or mug. Participants also receive stickers. Race merchandise like shirts and hoodies are available for separate purchase.
Additional Activities
A post-race potluck party is held. Camping is available for free at nearby campgrounds within the Green Swamp, though a reservation is required.
Series & Affiliations
The event is part of the Skunk Ape Trail Series, which connects four trail races. It is a Trail Sisters approved race and follows guidelines from the American Trail Running Association, the International Trail Running Association, and the International Association of Ultrarunners.
