Event overview

The Skunk Ape Night Run is a night trail race held July 18, 2026 at the Green Swamp - West Tract in Dade City, Florida. The main distance is 30K. The event has no official time cut-off. The start and finish are located near 13347 Ranch Road.

Course and logistics

The route includes a mix of pasture lanes, mud, dirt roads, single-track on the Florida Trail, sandy hills, fire berms and open grassy sections. Key route features named in the course description include Cumpressco Road, Rangers Landing Road, the Big Foot BSA campsite, the Berm Loop, Cedar Pocket Road and a creek crossing. Course marking uses reflective tape with pink flagging and turn signs. Aid stations are placed every 3 to 5 miles and are stocked with items such as soda, pickles, gummy candies, chips, snacks, cookies, produce and powdered electrolyte drink mixes; band-aids and women’s hygiene products are available at aid stations. There is one drop bag zone at the Berm Aid Station; drop bags should be labeled and kept to roughly the size of a standard drawstring bag. Drop bags are returned to the start/finish only after that aid station has packed up.

Awards, services and other notes

Overall awards are given to the top four men and top four women. There are no age-group awards or event t-shirts; finishers may choose a pint glass, whiskey glass, mug or similar item as a finisher award. Stickers and event merchandise are available. A post-race potluck is offered for a total price of $15. Camping in the Green Swamp is free but requires a reservation that must be displayed at the campground. The event follows ATRA standards and guidelines from ITRA and IAU and states adherence to Leave No Trace principles. It is part of the Skunk Ape Trail Series connecting multiple Skunk Ape events.
