Skunk Ape Night Run : Green Swamp West Tract, Dade City, FL
The Skunk Ape Night Run is a night trail event on July 18, 2026, held at the Green Swamp - West Tract near 13347 Ranch Road, Dade City, FL. The event distance is 30K and it is organized with no official cut-off time.
The course covers diverse Florida terrain including pasture lanes, mud, dirt roads, single track sections on the Florida Trail, sandy stretches, fire berms, grassy horse trails, creek crossings, and some hills. Course marking uses reflective tape with pink flagging and marked turn signs; participants follow taped markers on the Florida Trail and other flagged routes.
Wildlife in the area is abundant. Reported species include hogs, armadillos, deer, owls, alligators, bobwhite quail, pygmy rattlers, and species listed as threatened or endangered such as the Florida Black Bear, Florida Scrub Jay, and Wood Stork. The organizer also references local reports of the local Skunk Ape.
Aid stations appear approximately every 3 to 5 miles and are stocked with soda, pickles, confectionery items, chips, snacks, cookies, produce, and powdered electrolyte mixes. Band-aids and women hygiene products are provided at aid stations in a plastic box. One drop bag zone is available at the Berm Aid Station; drop bags should be labeled and kept roughly the size of a standard drawstring bag. Drop bags are returned to the Start/Finish after the aid station packs up.
Finisher awards consist of a choice of glassware or cups and event stickers. A post-race potluck is organized for a fee of $15; attendees may bring prepared dishes such as fruit salads, pasta salads, casseroles, or baked goods. Camping is free within the Green Swamp campgrounds by reservation and display of the reservation at the site. The event is presented as part of the Skunk Ape Trail Series and follows standards from trail running organizations for course marking, safety, and environmental stewardship.
