Skunk Ape Night Run - July 18, 2026
The Skunk Ape Night Run is a night trail event held in the Green Swamp - West Tract near Dade City, Florida. The advertised distance is 30K on varied Florida terrain that includes pasture lanes, mud, dirt roads, single-track sections on the Florida Trail, sandy hills, fire berms, grassy horse trails and creek crossings. A ridge section and a small bridge are noted points along the route.
There is no cut-off time for the race. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 5 miles and are stocked with soda, pickles, gummy candies, chips, snacks, cookies, produce and powdered electrolytes. Band-aids and women’s hygiene products are provided in a plastic box at all aid stations. Course marking uses reflective tape with pink flagging and turn signs.
Awards are given to the top four men and top four women overall. Finisher awards are informal selections such as pint glasses, mugs or cups, and stickers are provided. A post-race potluck is part of the event for an additional fee; the potluck features a mix of savory and sweet dishes shared by participants.
Support details include a single drop bag zone at the Berm Aid Station, camping available for free within the Green Swamp with a required reservation, and the event’s affiliation with Trail Sisters, ATRA, ITRA and the IAU.
