Skull Krusher 50k : March 21, 2026

The Skull Krusher 50k is a trail running event that starts and finishes at Bronco Trailhead in Tonto National Forest near Cave Creek, Arizona. The listed course distance is 29.3 miles (47.1 km) with about 4,137 feet of ascent and the same amount of descent. The route uses desert singletrack and includes rocky sections and an out-and-back that reaches the rim of Skull Mesa.

Course and logistics

The race is mostly self-supported with a single fully stocked aid station located near mile 22 and additional water opportunities at creek crossings along Trail 4. Participants are asked to carry a minimum of 2 liters from the start and to bring a water filter. The course will be marked only at critical junctions; GPX coordinates are provided for upload to a watch or smartphone. Manual timing will be used and there is an 11-hour time limit. Pacers are not allowed. Music and trekking poles are permitted.

Registration is limited to 100 participants, the entrance fee is $75, and refunds are not offered. Parking is available at the Bronco Trailhead. All finishers receive a commemorative hat; top male and female finishers receive free entries to the Saddles 50 miler. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
