Event overview
Prickly Pedal is a trail running event held at Lake Pleasant Regional Park in Peoria, Arizona. The trail run distance is 10 miles and the course is an out-and-back that begins and finishes at the 10 Lane Boat Ramp. Proceeds support the Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation.
Course and logistics
The route follows Frogs Tank trail, drops steeply onto Beardsley trail, connects to Wild Burro trail, and continues on Pipeline Canyon to Pipeline Cove where runners turn around and retrace the route. The course includes steep descents and varied desert terrain. Key statistics for the 10 mile run include a total elevation gain of 883 feet and a maximum elevation of 1,880 feet. There is one on-course aid station offering water, electrolyte drinks, snacks, and fruit; the main aid station at the finish provides the same items and an egg breakfast. Crews are allowed only at start and finish, pacers are not permitted, and a designated area for drop bags is provided at the start/finish. Spectator parking at Lake Pleasant Regional Park carries a park entry fee; racers parking at the finish may have the fee waived with the appropriate pass.
