Skinny Raven Oktoberfest
Skinny Raven Oktoberfest is a fall running and walking event on September 19, 2026, held in Anchorage with an in-person and a virtual option running September 12-19. The event is staged from Depot Drive at The Rail, 49th State Brewing’s tasting room, and uses roads and multi-use paths in the Ship Creek area.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Both courses start on Depot Drive and follow 1st Avenue, Cordova Street, and Ship Creek Avenue to Post Road, then join the Ship Creek Trail. The 5K continues west on the trail to a point near the Wingate hotel and returns to the finish via Cordova, 1st Avenue, and Depot Drive. The 10K runs out-and-back on the trail to William Tyson Elementary School before returning on the same route. Aid stations are located at about mile 1.5 on both courses; the 10K passes that aid station again near mile 4.6 and has an aid station at the turnaround.
Event packet pickup is scheduled for September 16, 2026 at Skinny Raven Downtown. Registered participants receive a unisex long sleeve cotton-poly shirt and a voucher for post-race pretzel bites, beer cheese, and a soda; beer will also be available for purchase inside the beer garden. Race bibs allow re-entry into 49th State’s Oktoberfest later in the day.
The event includes an awareness and fundraiser for Covenant House Alaska with a matching contribution up to $500. Parking is available in downtown streets and garages, with a walk required from parking to the venue; there is no event parking accessed from Depot Drive or the Alaska Railroad Depot parking lot on 1st Avenue. For safety and insurance compliance, pets, bicycles, and rollerblades are not allowed and participants with strollers are asked to position themselves toward the back of the field.
