Silverton Alpine Runs - Silverton, Colorado
The Silverton Alpine Runs are a series of mountain trail races held in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton, Colorado. Courses follow the historic Alpine Loop jeep roads and pass several ghost mining towns including Howardsville, Eureka, Animas Forks, and Gladstone. The course high point is at California Pass near 12,926 feet.
Distances offered:
- 50K - ~31.8 miles, total elevation gain 4,569 ft
- Marathon - ~26.8 miles, total elevation gain 3,911 ft
- 8 Miler - ~8.4 miles, total elevation gain 382 ft
Aid stations are provided and are described as well stocked. There is no crew or spectator access at aid stations; crew and spectators may assist runners only at the start and finish in Memorial Park. Pacers are not allowed for any distance. A drop bag area is available at the start and finish for personal items.
The Kendall Mountain Run portion of the weekend is a cupless event; runners are responsible for carrying their own container to refill at aid stations. The Alpine Loop is open to recreational vehicles in summer and OHV traffic may create dusty conditions along the route.
