Event overview
The Silverton Alpine Runs take place in Silverton, Colorado on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The event offers three distances:
- 50K (about 31.8 miles)
- Marathon (about 26.8 miles)
- 8 Miler (about 8.4 miles)
The 50K and marathon follow a loop on the Alpine Loop jeep roads through the San Juan Mountains and pass the historic mining towns of Howardsville, Eureka, Animas Forks, and Gladstone. The courses reach a maximum elevation near 12,926 ft. The listed total elevation gains are approximately 4,569 ft for the 50K, 3,911 ft for the marathon, and 382 ft for the 8 miler. The race start and finish are at Silverton Memorial Park.
Course and logistics
Aid stations are located at multiple points on course, including Howardsville, Eureka, Animas Forks, California Pass, and Gladstone; some sections (for example Niagara Gulch) have no aid. Certain aid station locations have checkout cutoffs. The Kendall Mountain Run portion of the event is cupless; runners must carry a refillable cup or container for aid-station fills. There is a designated drop-bag area at the start/finish. Crew and spectators are not allowed at on-course aid stations but may assist at the start/finish area. Pacers are not permitted for any distance. The Alpine Loop is open to recreational vehicles on race day; dust may occur. Online registration closes on Sunday, July 12 at 11:59 PM MT.
