Silverton Alpine Runs, Silverton Colorado

The Silverton Alpine Runs are mountain trail events held on the Alpine Loop in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton, Colorado. The event offers multiple distance options and follows historic jeep roads that pass ghost mining towns and high alpine terrain. The race starts and finishes in the Town of Silverton at Memorial Park.

Distances offered:

  • 50K (approximately 31.8 miles)
  • Marathon (approximately 26.8 miles)
  • 8 Miler (approximately 8.4 miles)

The marathon and 50K courses travel through Howardsville, Eureka, Animas Forks, and Gladstone, with a course high point near 12,926 feet and a low point in Silverton near 9,318 feet. Elevation gain is approximately 3,900 feet for the marathon and roughly 4,500 feet for the 50K; the 8 Miler has about 382 feet of ascent. Aid stations are provided along the courses, and official results are chip timed. Drop bag storage is available at the start/finish area.

Event policies and support details include no pacers allowed, no crew or spectator access at on-course aid stations, and volunteer roles to staff aid stations and event operations.
