Ouray 100 Mile Endurance Run
The Ouray 100 Mile Endurance Run is a single-distance trail event held in Ouray, Colorado, with a total elevation gain of 41,862 feet and fourteen major climbs. The course traverses the San Juan Mountain range and includes a final 5,000-foot climb to a location called Bridge of Heaven, followed by a descent back to Fellin Park. Finishers receive a large belt buckle and the race concludes near the Ouray Hot Springs.
Participants are required to complete eight hours of volunteer service prior to July 1; acceptable service includes volunteering at a trail ultramarathon or performing physical trail work. Crewing, pacing, and coaching do not qualify. Participants may opt out of the service requirement by making a $100 donation; entrants who have not submitted their service form or paid the opt out fee by July 10 will forfeit their registration fee and not be permitted to participate.
A SPOT tracker is required for all racers and will be provided by organizers; locations will be updated every five minutes. The 100-mile event uses a 52-hour cutoff. The race maintains a low-frills, traditional style and enforces an Ironton Clause that asks runners who drop at Ironton to return to Fellin Park to help support other participants.
The event is no longer submitted for UTMB qualification. Cash purses are offered for top finishers and award payment is subject to urine and/or blood testing for banned substances, including THC with a 150 ng/ml threshold. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
