Event overview
The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is a 100-mile loop ultramarathon based in Silverton, Colorado. The course alternates each year; the 2026 running is a clockwise loop. The route connects or passes near the towns of Silverton, Lake City, Ouray, Telluride and Ophir. The 2026 race uses a lottery process; the lottery for that edition will take place on December 6, 2025.
Course and logistics
The route runs in the San Juan Mountains and uses 4WD roads, dirt trails and cross-country sections. Total ascent is listed as 33,197 feet with 33,197 feet of descent, for a combined elevation change of 66,394 feet. The average elevation is about 11,186 feet, the low point is near Ouray at 7,680 feet, and the high point is Handies Peak at 14,048 feet. All or part of the event is conducted on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.
