Event
The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is a 100-mile ultramarathon held in Silverton, Colorado. The 2026 edition uses a clockwise loop. The race operates on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. The event includes a lottery process for entries; the 2026 lottery was scheduled for December 6, 2025. The organizers also distribute the Joel Zucker Memorial Scholarships; in 2025 six high school students and ten continuing-education students received a total of $47,000.
Course and terrain
The course runs through the backcountry of the San Juan Mountains and connects or passes near the historic towns of Silverton, Lake City, Ouray, Telluride, and Ophir. Terrain includes 4WD roads, dirt trails, and cross-country sections. Total elevation gain is 33,197 feet with an equal amount of descent, for a combined elevation change of 66,394 feet. The average elevation is about 11,186 feet; the low point is near 7,680 feet at Ouray and the high point is Handies Peak at 14,048 feet.
