Hardrock 100 / Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run

The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is a 100-mile ultramarathon held in the San Juan Mountain Range of southern Colorado. The loop course uses 4WD roads, dirt trails, and cross-country sections around Silverton, Colorado.

The course totals about 66,528 feet of elevation change with roughly 33,264 feet of climb and 33,264 feet of descent. The average elevation is listed as 11,186 feet, with a low point near Ouray at 7,680 feet and a high point on Handies Peak at 14,048 feet. Parts of the operation take place on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.

Organizers publish a Runners Manual and a Volunteer Manual for each year; the 2026 manuals are available as preparatory resources. The event also maintains entrants and wait lists and provides a pacer-runner matchmaking resource for participants who seek pacing support.

The Hardrock organization distributes funds and scholarships to local groups. In one recent cycle, $30,000 was awarded to community organizations in the San Juan Mountains. The Joel Zucker Memorial Scholarship program has provided annual awards to graduating and continuing education students, with a total distribution reported across years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
