Kendall Mountain Run : July 19, 2026

The Kendall Mountain Run takes place in Silverton, Colorado. The event offers two distances:

  • 12 Mile
  • 11K

Course and logistics

Both courses start in downtown Silverton and follow jeep roads uphill. The 12-mile route climbs from about 9,318 feet to the summit area near 13,066 feet and includes a final scramble to the peak before descending back to Memorial Park. The 12-mile course lists about 3,960 feet of total elevation gain. The 11K climbs to a maximum elevation near 10,840 feet with about 1,616 feet of elevation gain.

Aid stations are located at Deer Park (around 3.3 miles) and at the Notch (small aid/water); there is no aid at the summit. Drop bags are allowed in a designated area at the start/finish; for the 11K aid stations also accept drop bags. The event is cupless: runners must carry their own container for refilling at aid stations. Pacers are not allowed and crew access is limited to the start and finish areas. The 12-mile course has a six-hour time limit; the 11K course has a 5.5-hour cutoff.

History

The race traces historical speed-ascent attempts on Kendall Mountain back to 1908 and has been held annually since 1978. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
