Kendall Mountain Run
The Kendall Mountain Run is a mountain trail event in Silverton, Colorado, offering two marked distances that start in downtown Silverton and finish in Memorial Park. The longer course follows jeep roads from about 9,318 feet toward the summit of Kendall Mountain at 13,066 feet, including a final vertical scramble of roughly 250 feet to reach the peak, then a descent that links back to the jeep road before returning to town.
The event is held annually and traces its origins to a 1908 bar bet; the organized race has run in this format since 1978. Runners should expect significant elevation gain on the 12 Mile course and an out-and-back jeep road route for the 11 KM distance. The race operates with a six hour time limit.
Aid stations are provided along the course, with water available at key points such as Deer Park and the Notch; the summit itself is listed with no aid. The event is cupless: no paper cups are provided and participants must carry their own container; reusable cups are available for purchase. There is no crew access outside the start and finish area, and pacers are not allowed for any distance. Drop bags can be left at the start/finish area. Race perks include a race shirt (if registered early), finisher photo, chip timing, awards, and a Mountain Duo recognition for those who complete both weekend events.
