Kendall Mountain Run

The Kendall Mountain Run is a pair of high-elevation trail events in Silverton, Colorado that start in downtown Silverton and finish at Silverton Memorial Park. The courses use jeep roads for most of the route and include significant elevation change and mountain terrain.

The longer course is a 12 mile route that climbs from about 9,318 feet to the summit area near 13,066 feet, including a final 300 foot vertical scramble to the summit and a descent back to town. The course uses a backside link at the Notch to avoid narrow scramble sections and loose rockfall; summit conditions may require turning runners at the Notch. The shorter option is an 11 kilometer out and back that turns at Deer Park and returns to the finish.

Aid stations are provided along the routes, with small aid at the Notch and no aid at the summit on the 12 mile course. The event is cupless; participants must carry a personal container for refills. Drop bags are allowed at designated locations and aid stations. There is no crew access outside the start and finish area and pacers are not permitted. The event has historical roots dating back to 1908 and has been held annually since 1978. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
