SilverBackTrails Wade’s Revenge
A trail half marathon run in the North York Moors National Park, starting and finishing at Levisham Village Hall on Main Street, Levisham. This is the Widdershins Edition, running the usual course in the opposite direction.
The race distance is approximately 13.1 miles. A five hour time limit applies. Places are limited to 50 entrants and all participants must be aged 16 or older on the day. Entries open 2 March 2026 and close 18 February 2027. There are no entries on the day.
The route follows forest tracks, ancient pathways and sheep trods across open fields, wooded valleys and expansive moorland. It passes through the Hole of Horcum, described in the event information as around 400 ft deep and three quarters of a mile wide, with a local legend about the giant Wade. There will be two checkpoint locations on course offering flapjacks, crisps, sweets, water and soft drinks, and finishers are offered tea or coffee, soup and a roll. All finishers receive a bespoke event medal.
Navigation aid includes marshals, some flags, a route GPX file sent to entrants and a master route map shown at registration. Organisers require a specified minimum kit including a waterproof jacket, warm spare layer, hat or buff, emergency bivvy, charged mobile ideally with mapping apps, working compass, OS Explorer 27 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map, at least 500 ml fluid and 120 g emergency food. Spot checks may be carried out and entrants missing mandatory equipment may be withdrawn. Parking is within the village adjacent to the hall and a £1 per car collection at registration is allocated to the village hall and the national park. There are no refunds but transfers are allowed up to one week before the event. An optional technical T shirt is available via the club shop for £18. Dogs are permitted on a lead and will start after other participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
