Event overview
The Hardmoors 15 is scheduled for Saturday 3 January 2026. The race is a circular route starting and finishing at Fylingdales Village Hall in Robin Hood's Bay. The advertised distance is approximately 17.5 miles (also described as 18 miles on some materials) with total ascent of about 1,700 ft / 518 m. Entry is limited to 150 participants. Entry fees are listed as £45 (attached) and £47 (unattached). The event has an ARC permit (26/0004). Dogs are not allowed. The published overall time limit to complete the course is 8 hours. The organiser states there are no cash refunds for cancelled events; transfers and deferrals are permitted under specified conditions up to three weeks before the race.
Route, checkpoints and rules
The route is circular from Robin Hood's Bay and follows local trails including the Cinder Track and Cleveland Way. Published checkpoints and mileages are: Checkpoint 1 - Ravenscar Station Road (4.5 miles); Checkpoint 2 - Hayburn Wyke (8 miles); Checkpoint 3 - Ravenscar Station Road (12.5 miles); finish at Fylingdales Village Hall (17.5 miles). Checkpoints are listed as offering water, food and coke. There is a cut-off at the first checkpoint that must be met (three hours after the race start). Mandatory kit includes hat and gloves; waterproof jacket with taped seams; minimum 500 ml fluid; whistle; map and route description; survival bag; foil blanket; mobile phone; a cup for aid stations; and means to attach a race bib.
