Event overview

The Hardmoors 15 is a winter trail event held on Saturday 3 January 2026. The course is a circular route starting and finishing at Fylingdales Village Hall in Robin Hood's Bay. The distance is approximately 17.5 miles with a total ascent of about 1,700 ft (518 m). The event has an entry limit of 150 and a minimum age of 18. Entry fees listed are £45 (attached) and £47 (unattached). The event holds ARC permit 26/0004. Dogs are not allowed. The organisers donate £1.00 from each entry to the Cleveland Way National Trail.

Route, logistics and rules

The route follows coastal and trail sections including the Cinder Track and Cleveland Way and uses a diverted route for 2025/2026. Checkpoints are located at Ravenscar Station Road (4.5 miles and 12.5 miles) and Hayburn Wyke (8 miles); aid stations at these points provide water, food and coke. Runners have an overall time limit of 8 hours to complete the course and there are checkpoint cut-offs. Mandatory kit must be carried for the duration of the event, including hat and gloves, waterproof jacket with taped seams, at least 500 ml fluid, whistle, map and route description, survival bag, foil blanket, mobile phone, cup for drinks and fittings for the race bib.
