Loftus Poultry Run
The Loftus & Whitby Poultry Run is a festive, multi-terrain running event held annually in Loftus, North East England, just before Christmas for over 38 years. The approximately 7-mile course features quiet country lanes, bridleways, footpaths, and muddy fields, with an ascending first half followed by a thrilling downhill finish. The run is chip-timed and encourages participants to wear sturdy trainers or trail shoes.
Known for its friendly atmosphere, many runners dress in fancy costumes, accompanied by a brass band and camaraderie. Prizes are awarded across age categories, including spot and consolation prizes, with all finishers receiving a bespoke T-shirt. Entry is limited to 400 runners.
