About the race
The Loftus Poultry Run is a long-running, multi-terrain race held just before Christmas on 20 December 2026. The course is approximately 7 miles, running along country lanes, bridleways and footpaths. The route generally ascends during the first half and then includes a downhill section to the finish.
The event has been organised for over 40 years and is part of the North East racing calendar. It is UKA licensed (No 31768) and uses chip timing; results are published via the event's partner results service. A GPX file of the route is available.
Practical notes provided by the organiser include a recommendation for sturdy trainers or trail shoes because there is substantial road on the course; fell shoes are not suggested unless there is heavy snow as happened in 2009. Every finisher will receive a T-shirt. Numbers are to be collected on the day and will not be posted out. There are no entries on the day.
Entry pricing changes by date and includes discounted and standard rates, with discounted prices available to members of clubs affiliated to EA WA SA. The organiser pays the service fee for each sign-up. Total entries are limited to 400 places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
