Event overview

The Loftus Poultry Run is organised by Loftus & Whitby AC and takes place each December. The event has been held just before Christmas for over 38 years. The 2025 edition is scheduled for 21 December and places are limited to 400; the field is currently full and a waiting list is in operation. The race holds a UKA licence (No. 30049).

Course and race details

The race is a multi-terrain run of approximately 7 miles. The route uses country lanes, bridleways, footpaths and farmer’s fields. The course is generally ascending for the first half and then runs downhill to the finish. The event is chip timed and results are published via the organiser’s partner results site. Every finisher receives a T-shirt. Prizes are awarded for age category winners, there are spot prizes and consolation prizes for the last finishers, and some prizes include Christmas fayre such as poultry.

Numbers are issued at registration on the day and there are no entries on the day. The organiser’s rules ban in-ear and over-ear headphones; bone conduction headphones are permitted. Sturdy trainers or trail shoes are recommended because of mixed surfaces and road sections. Parking and registration are based at Loftus Leisure Centre. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
