SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon
SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail half marathon of circa 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley. The route follows forest tracks and ancient trods and offers views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The course includes a number of technical ascents and descents and varied terrain that may extend beyond participants usual comfort zones.
The event start is at Square Corner just outside Osmotherley. Entry is limited to 50 participants and all entrants must be at least 18 years old. There is a four hour time limit for completion. Entries are managed online with no entries accepted on the day. An optional technical event T shirt is available for purchase from the organiser’s club shop for £18. The entry fee is £25.00. There is ample parking at the start and finish; a £1 per car charge will be collected on the day and donated to the National Park.
Participants will receive a bespoke finisher medal and a certificate. Navigation aids include some flags and marshals, a master map available at registration, and a GPX file supplied before the event; a reconnaissance of the route is advised. One checkpoint on course and the finish provide water, soft drinks and sweets and snacks with provisions suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
All competitors must carry as a minimum a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps loaded, a working compass, and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors.
