SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon
Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail running event of approximately 13.2 miles on routes around Black Hambleton and Silton Woods, south of Osmotherley. The course follows forest tracks and ancient trods and offers views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The event start and finish are at Square Corner, just outside Osmotherley, and entry is limited to 50 participants. All entrants must be at least 18 years old.
There is a 3.5 hour time limit. Navigation is assisted by some flags and marshals, a master map provided at registration, and a GPX file sent to participants beforehand. One checkpoint on the course and the finish provide water, cola and sweets and snacks, with vegetarian and vegan options available. Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate.
Entries are handled through SiEntries with no entries on the day and a stated entry fee of £20.00. Ample parking is available at the start and finish; a £1 per car charge will be collected on the day and donated to the National Park.
Participants must carry minimum safety kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless using Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps, a working compass and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. Canine running partners are permitted on a short lead; dog owners will set off five minutes after the main field and their time limit will be adjusted accordingly.
