SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon

The event takes place on 17 May 2026 near Osmotherley, with the start and finish at Square Corner. It is organised by SilverBack Trails and is a trail running event of approximately 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area. The course follows forest tracks and ancient trods and offers views of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The route includes several technical ascents and descents.

Course, entry and requirements

The route will be marked on a master map at registration, and a GPX file will be sent to participants beforehand. Flags and marshals will aid navigation. There is a single checkpoint on course offering water, cola and sweets, and finish provisions that include options suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate. The event has a time limit of 3.5 hours.

Entry is limited to 50 participants, all entries must be made via SiEntries, and there are no entries on the day. The minimum age is 18. The entry fee is £20. Ample parking is available at the start/finish; a £1 per car parking charge will be collected and donated to the National Park. Canine running partners are allowed on a short lead or harness, with dog owners starting five minutes after the main field and having their time limit adjusted.

Participants must carry basic safety kit such as a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid, around 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile with mapping apps, a working compass and an OL 26 OS map or Harvey’s map of the North Yorkshire Moors.
