SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon
SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail running event of approximately 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley, with views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The route follows forest tracks and ancient trods and includes several technical ascents and descents and varied terrain that will require navigation.
The field is limited to 50 participants and the event has a maximum time limit of 3.5 hours. All entries are handled through SiEntries and there are no entries on the day. The minimum age for competitors is 18 and the entry fee is £20. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate.
The route will be marked on a master map at registration and a GPX file will be sent to participants beforehand; there will also be some flags and marshals to aid navigation. There is one checkpoint on course offering water, cola and sweets and snacks, with additional provisions at the finish that include vegetarian and vegan options.
Competitors must carry minimum safety kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless using Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket, an emergency bivvy bag, 500 mls of fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps, a working compass, and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. Canine running partners are permitted on a short lead or harness; dog-powered runners will start after the rest of the field and have their time limit adjusted. There is ample parking at Square Corner near Osmotherley with a £1 per car donation to the National Park collected on the day.
