SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon
Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail half marathon of circa 13.2 miles taking place on 16 May 2027 around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley. The route uses forest tracks and ancient trods and offers views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The course includes a number of technical ascents and descents and varied terrain.
The event is limited to 50 participants and has a four hour time limit. Entries are taken in advance via the event entry system and there are strictly no entries on the day. An optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase through the club shop.
Navigation support includes some flags and marshals, a master map provided at registration, and a GPX file sent to participants before the event. A recce of the route is advised. There will be one checkpoint on the course supplying water, cola and sweets, and provisions at the finish with vegetarian and vegan options.
Participants must carry mandatory kit as a minimum: a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps, a working compass and an OL26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors.
There is ample parking at the start and finish with a £1 per car donation collected for the National Park. Canine running partners are permitted on a short lead or harness; dog powered runners start five minutes after the main field and their time limit is adjusted accordingly.
