Silva Moors Traverse
The Moors Traverse is an 80 km ultra marathon that follows the final section of Wainwright's coast to coast route. The course begins in Ingleby Cross and traverses the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park. The trail continues through eastern Yorkshire, eventually concluding at the shoreline in Robin Hood's Bay.
The event features a total height gain of 1,600 metres and has a course closure time of 15 hours. The route is not specifically marked for the race, as it follows a well-established national hiking trail. Participants are provided with a waterproof race map, digital mapping via the Avenza app, and a GPX file to assist with navigation.
The following distances and locations are part of the event:
- 80 km total distance
- 1,600 m total elevation gain
- Lordstones Aid Station (13 km)
- Lion Inn (32 km)
- Glaisdale Aid Station (46 km)
- May Beck Aid Station (62 km)
Aid stations provide a variety of refreshments, including hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. A meat and fish-free menu is maintained for environmental sustainability, with vegan and gluten-free options available. The event operates with an adventurous ethos and a culture of self-sufficiency. Mandatory kit is required for all participants and is checked during registration. A finishers' bag is transported from the start to the finish line for each runner.
The event is part of the UTMB index and provides three ITRA points. Professional medical and response teams are positioned along the course to assist in emergencies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
