About the race
The Shriners 5K is part of the Marion County Race Series and takes place in East Side Fairmont, West Virginia. The event offers an in-person 5K, a virtual 5K option, and a 1-mile walk option. The published registration fee is $30.
Registration opens May 1 and closes July 31. All participants will receive a participation medal. Top three in-person finishers receive medals in the categories Overall Male, Overall Female, and Overall 15 and Under. Shirts are provided to registrants who meet the organizer's stated shirt deadline. The course begins at the tunnel trail entrance near the MCPARC Meredith Tunnel trailhead and immediately turns right onto Morgantown Avenue.
Runners face about 80 feet of elevation gain within the first half mile, then continue via Sunset Boulevard and Speedway Avenue. After roughly one mile the route turns onto East Park Avenue and then Indiana Avenue by Price Cutters. The final turn returns to Morgantown Avenue, with an approximately 80-foot elevation decline to the finish.
Parking and registration access are near the intersection of Morgantown Avenue and Winfield Street; the event location can be reached using 1801 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The race supports the charitable work of Osiris Shriners, an organization serving northern West Virginia and supporting Shriners Children.
