Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot 2026
The Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot is held on Thanksgiving Day in Morgantown, West Virginia, and includes a separate kids 800 m Turkey Fun Run. The 5k begins on the blue track by the WVU Coliseum and follows a route onto Mon Boulevard, past Texas Roadhouse, onto Boyers Avenue, Leeway Street, past Sheetz, then onto the rail trail for the final approximately two miles, finishing behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running.
The event offers timed results and awards for the top three male and top three female 5k finishers, plus awards for the top male and female 5k walkers. Participants registered in the walk category must walk only; those who intend to run should register in the run category. Random prize drawings will be held and the first 1,000 registered participants receive a pair of socks.
Children under 12 may register for the 5k or the 800 m Turkey Fun Run. The kids run is two laps around the blue track and will be run in two heats: children under 5 in the first heat and children aged 5 to 12 in the second heat.
No dogs are allowed and there are no refunds. Parking is available at the start at the blue track or at the finish at the Seneca Center, with a shuttle provided before and after the event. Online registration closes on November 23. Timing is provided by Mountain Timing. Donations of clothing and nonperishable food for local Christian Help are accepted at Morgantown Running.
