Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot 2026
The event is a Thanksgiving Day race day organized by Morgantown Running in Morgantown, WV. The main race is a 3.1 mile 5k offered as both a run and a walk. There is also an 800 m Kids Turkey Fun Run for children under 12. Dogs are not allowed and there are no refunds.
The 5k course starts on the blue track by the WVU Coliseum. Participants run nearly a full lap on the track, then follow Mon Blvd downhill past Mountain State toward the light, turn onto Boyers Avenue, then Leeway Street, pass Sheetz, and continue onto the rail trail. The final approximately 2 miles are on the rail trail, finishing behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running.
The kids 800 m is two laps around the blue track and will be held in two heats. Kids under 5 are in heat 1 and kids 6 to 12 are in heat 2. Children under 12 may register for the 5k instead of the kids run.
Awards and extras include prizes for top finishers, random prize drawings from Morgantown Running, race timing by mountaintiming.com, and socks for the first 1000 registrants. Parking is available at the start by the WVU Coliseum or at the Seneca Center, with shuttle service provided by Fox Shuttle Service.
