Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot 2026
The event is held on Thanksgiving Day in Morgantown, West Virginia, at the WVU Coliseum/blue track area and finishes behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running. The program includes two distances:
- 5k Run/Walk
- 800m Kids Turkey Fun Run
The 5k course begins on the blue track by the WVU Coliseum, follows nearly a full lap of the track, then continues onto Mon Boulevard, turns onto Boyers Avenue, Leeway Street, passes Sheetz, and uses the rail trail for the final approximately two miles to the finish behind the Seneca Center.
Prizes are planned for the top three male and top three female 5k finishers and for the top male and female 5k walkers. Random prize drawings will be held and the first 1000 registered participants will receive a pair of socks. Walkers are required to remain walking; participants who wish to run should register for the run category.
Children under 12 may register for the 5k or participate in the 800m Turkey Fun Run, which is two laps around the blue track and will be run in two heats: kids under 5 in heat one and kids 5 to 12 in heat two.
Parking is available at the start or at the finish and a shuttle service is provided. Timing is provided by mountaintiming.com. A local donation drive is collecting men's gently used clothing, belts, shoes, and non-perishable proteins for Christian Help. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
