Shelter Dog Dash
Shelter Dog Dash is a community fundraising event at Freestone District Park in Gilbert, Arizona on February 13, 2027. The event offers an in-person 5K, an in-person 1 Mile run/walk, and a Virtual Dash option with mailed race items for U.S. addresses. All participants receive a custom finisher's medal and a custom event shirt, with an option to choose a tank or receive a $5 discount for no shirt. Virtual entries include shipping of items after the event and instructions for submitting times.
Funds raised support One Love Arizona programs including the Shelter Dog Project, free spay/neuter and vaccination clinics for high-risk mixed breeds, and an 11-week prison dog training program. Male and female age-group awards are given to the top three finishers in the 5K across standard youth and adult age groups from 8 & Under through 80 & Over. The event provides chip timing with real time results and race photos.
The course is managed by StartLine Racing and is subject to change for safety. The event is pet friendly with requirements that dogs remain leashed, kept six feet apart from other dogs, and not use retractable leashes; wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on course.
