Shelter Dog Dash - Freestone Park, Gilbert
Shelter Dog Dash takes place on February 14, 2026 at Freestone District Park in Gilbert, Arizona. The event is organized by One Love Arizona and managed by StartLine Racing. It raises funds for programs that support at-risk shelter dogs in Maricopa County.

Funds from the event support the Shelter Dog Project, free spay and neuter clinics, and an 11-week Prison Program that pairs incarcerated individuals with shelter dogs. The Shelter Dog Project provides training, medical care, marketing, and post-adoption support. Free clinics focus on pit bull, shepherd, and husky mixes and include spay, neuter, and vaccinations. The Prison Program aims to prepare dogs for adoption while offering a structured training environment.
All participants receive a custom finisher medal and a custom event t-shirt with an option to upgrade to a tank or select no shirt for a reduced fee. Male and female age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each 5K age group. The event uses chip timing with real time results and photos available online or via mobile app. Packet pickup is available the day before at Solstice Fitness in Mesa and at Freestone Park on race day. The course is subject to change for safety. The event is leashed pet friendly with behavioral and leash rules, welcomes wheelchairs and strollers, and does not allow skates, skateboards, wagons, or motorized devices. Virtual registration is limited to US addresses and race items ship after the event. The event proceeds rain or shine and there are no refunds for weather.
