Shelter Dog Dash

Shelter Dog Dash takes place on February 13, 2027 at Freestone District Park in Gilbert, Arizona. The event is organized by One Love Arizona and managed by StartLine Racing and includes in-person and virtual participation options. Distances offered include a 5K and a 1-mile run/walk, plus a virtual dash that ships event items to participants in the United States.

The event raises funds for One Love Arizona programs that serve at-risk shelter dogs. Funds support the Shelter Dog Project, which provides training, medical care, marketing, and post-adoption support; free spay and neuter and vaccination clinics focused on pit bull, shepherd, and husky mixes; and an 11-week prison dog training program that pairs incarcerated individuals with shelter dogs.

All participants receive a custom finisher medal and event t-shirt with an option to upgrade to a tank or decline the shirt for a partial discount. The 5K offers male and female age-group awards for top three finishers. The event uses chip timing with real-time results and photos. Pre- and post-race refreshments are provided.

Course maps are published and courses may change if deemed unsafe. The event is pet friendly with dogs required on leash, kept six feet apart from other dogs, and no retractable leashes; strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Roller blades, skateboards, wagons, and motorized devices are not allowed. There is no bag check and the event proceeds rain or shine with no weather refunds.
